As part of the 125th Anniversary celebrations for the south Cumbrian club, the Barrow 125 Exhibition will launch later this month.
This is the start of a year-long series of events, celebrating a hundred and twenty-five years of Barrow AFC and the launch takes place at The Dock Museum on Friday 17 July, between 4.30 and 6.30.
The history of Barrow AFC is very much entwined with the history of the town. It’s the year the first ever Royal Navy submarine, The Holland, was launched from the Barrow shipyard.
On a wider scale it was the year that Queen Victoria died, Marconi made the first transatlantic signal and the Boer War was taking place.
A shipyard foreman, engineer and inventor J.H Hind called a meeting at the Old Drill Hall in the Strand on July 16th 1901 and Barrow AFC was born.
The story will be told through the use of artefact, supporter voices, displays and mixed media contributions.
