Cleator Moor Celtic crashed to an 8-1 home defeat to South Liverpool in the North West Counties League.
It leaves Celtic bottom of Division One North without a point after four games.
They go to Nelson on Saturday to face a side who have four points from their four games and have lost twice.
Against South Liverpool they gifted the visitors three goals inside 26 minutes before Leo Brennan pulled one back after 36 minutes.
Manager Brian Dawson said: “That goal got us back into it and then we missed a penalty.
“But for 20 minutes at the start of the second-half we piled on the pressure and hit the bar twice.
“When they scored their fourth on the break it seemed to knock the wind out of our sails.
“Individual mistakes are costing us in key moments and it’s pretty hard to take in truth.
“There’s been some choice words said. We’re vulnerable at the moment and we’re a very young team who need to learn very quickly how to win football matches, otherwise it’s going to be a long season.”
Celtic have lost a number of senior players. Last season’s top scorer Jay Wetherill is playing rugby league for Wath Brow and Tom Mahone is with Workington Reds.
Then last week key forward Callum Birdsall joined Carlisle City in the Northern League. Penrith had also tried to lure him away from Inglenorth Park.
