West Cumbrian star Craig Cook was in the wars again on Sunday when he was brought down in his return to the Glasgow side.
He had raced to four straight wins when he was brought down by another former Workington rider Charles Wright in Heat 13.
Glasgow went on to secure a top two finish in the Championship with a 46-44 win over Redcar in thriller at the Ecco Arena.
The Tigers saw a ten-point advantage clawed back by the hosts before a 5-1 for the Bears in Heat 14 from outstanding reserve Jordan Jenkins (15+2) and Kasper Andersen put them in front.
Stand-in Glasgow skipper Tom Brennan (13) and guest Aaron Summers (11+3) turned the meeting back in the Tigers’ favour with a 5-1 in the decider.
It means they join Leicester as automatic semi-final qualifiers, whilst Redcar remain behind Scunthorpe in the race for the top six, with the sides due to meet on Friday.
Glasgow boss Cami Brown said: “It was a very long, hard night. We were down to the walking wounded at the end, but the boys were fantastic.
“Craig was immense, and he was so unlucky to be taken out yet again through no fault of his own. He looked like he would go unbeaten.
“It didn’t look good after his crash, but we never gave in and I’m absolutely ecstatic to be in the semi-finals again. We need a week or two where we can recover, and that extra break might help us.”
