The latest HTA meetings have been hit by the virus currently affecting kennels across the county.

Three venues, staging thirteen trails, attracted less than 100 hounds with 15 entries for the puppy trail at Loweswater Show the best.

Lowick Show had very few runners with only eight senior hounds taking part and it was Denis Peare and Jackie Gill’s Miterdale Ducess who won from the Steel family’s Miterdale Dusk.

Unfortunately the puppy trail was void over time but in the open maidens Amber Bay had a first win of the season for Lynn and Norman Brown.

The Steel family was successful in the last two trails, having a one-two in the open restricted with Miterdale Favour and Miterdale Honesty.

Their former double senior and puppy champion Miterdale Shadow won the veterans trail from General James.

There were plenty of people at Loweswater Show as it returned after two years but hound numbers were still low, although up on Lowick Show the previous day.

The first trail of the day was the open pups with the current championship leader Huntsman’s Rebel starting as favourite. However when they showed on the finish it was the Napier family’s Foxparke Beep Beep who came with the lead from kennelmate Foxparke Mysteriously as Huntsman’s Rebel could manage only third.

The open maidens saw Nicola McMaster’s Silver Dancer come in front and she hung on to win from the Napier’s Shackalackaboomboom.

The open restricted race was the most exciting of the day with half a dozen dogs showing on the finish with Breton and Foxparke Lady Ava battling on and crossing the line together. The race was given as a dead heat as the hounds couldn’t be separated by the camera.

There were only four runners for the senior hounds where Nicola McMaster’s Martha crossed the line in front of Denise Bland’s Jenny’s Quest.

Last night the hounds were back running at Lowick when again entries were low with only five contesting the seniors.

This time tound it was the Steels Miterdale Dusk who took the honours from Winterfell and Saturday’s winner Miterdale Duchess.

The Steels also won the open pups as Miterdale Shade completed a quick double for the kennel.

The open non winners was won by Neil Brown and Co’s Dundee which was enough to take it to the top of the points table in that grade with a lead of two points over the Napier’s Foxparke Whoosh,

The open restricted race was won by Christine Brownlee’s Monsoon who beat Andy Horn’s Insider.
