Back in the Premier Division, Lindal Moor who clinched the First Division title.

The battle for the Cumbria League’s Premier Division title will go down to the final week with the deciding games on Saturday.

Carlisle, who lead by five points, travel to Keswick who can finish no higher nor lower than third.

Cockermouth will need to win their final game at home to Wigton and hope that Carlisle slip up at Fitz Park.

All four top teams won on Saturday to stay as they were going into the final round of fixtures.

Carlisle travelled to Egremont whose survival in the top flight had all but been confirmed last week.

The League leaders batted first and made 209-9 in their 50 overs led by former skipper Marc Brown (100no) and professional Michael Slack (31).

Egremont couldn’t challenge that as Carlisle’s Cumbria county spinner Nico Watt took 6-9 and young Johnny Westgarth had 3-21. They were bowled-out for 65 in 25 overs.

Cockermouth were also comfortable winners in their game at home to Workington.

Put in to bat Workington were dismissed for 82 in 41.1 overs with Alex Grainger taking 4-18, while Sam Sharp had 2-3 off eight overs, six of which were maidens.

A stand of 38 for the fourth wicket between captain Matthew Lowden (26) and professional Lahiru Dilshan (18) was the highest of the innings and they were the only two batsmen to reach double figures.

Cockermouth needed only 14.4 overs to reach their target after Gareth White (35no) and Grainger (45) put on 80 for the first wicket, the only one to fall.

Keswick have seen their title hopes blown away by two successive defeats but they got back to winning ways at Haverigg.

Players from Cleator and Whitehaven in a minute’s silence following the death of her Majesty the Queen ahead of their Premier Division match.

Electing to bat first Keswick raced to 269-5 in their 50 overs with successive stands of 96, 56, 48, 17 and 45 taking them there.

Openers Stephen Hindmarch (61) and Will Atkinson (58) led the way backed by Ben Sharp (40), James McGown (35no), Risith Upamal (28) and Scott McGown (22).

Haverigg’s reply started disastrously as they were 5-3 and the top three all out without scoring.

They were eventually dismissed for 92 in 20.4 overs but that owed much to 48 off as many balls from Jordan Postlethwaite, who hit eight fours and a six.

Spinner Dan Gaskell did best with the ball for Keswick as he finished with 5-10 from his five overs.

It’s going to be a fourth place finish for last season’s champions Furness whatever they do in their final game on Saturday.

Like the three teams ahead of them they won comfortably enough at Wigton by six wickets and had 21.5 overs to spare.

Put in to bat Wigton struggled to reach 146-9 in their 50 overs and it was largely down to skipper and pro Chris Hodgson (52) who held the lower order together. Coming in at 24-2 he helped take the score to 142 when he was the ninth man out.

Harris Woods was the most successful Furness bowler taking 3-45.

Openers Ryan Griffiths (38) and Nathan Waterston (38) gave Furness a solid start and with Liam Curwen chipping in with 26 the visitors got to 148-4 to seal the points.

Whitehaven have enjoyed their best performances in the closing weeks of the season and they kept it going with an eight wicket win at Cleator.

Asking Cleator to bat first they were rewarded by dismissing their hosts for 123 as Josh Foster (4-22) and Andrew Cameron (3-20) made good inroads,

Professional Kasun Madushanka (32) and skipper James Rogers (23) were the main contributors for Cleator.

A second wicket stand of 71 between skipper Stephen Holliday (62no) and professional Timycen Maruma (47) put Whitehaven well on their way.

Maruma’s 47 came off only 28 deliveries and included seven fours and two sixes.

Dalton needed to win both their final games to have a chance of saving their Premier Division status but they went down to a nine wicket defeat against Millom and that sealed their fate.

They made a 50-overs total of 170-7 which Millom knocked-off through the efforts of professional Primosh Perara (75no) and Dec Tyson (65no).

Dalton’s place in the Premier Division next season will be taken by Lindal Moor who have been able to bounce back quickly after last season’s relegation.
