There’s a feeling that the battle for the HTA senior championship is going to hot up over the last six weeks of the season.
None of the contenders have reached double figures yet with victories slow for all the leading contenders.
But wins this week for long-time leader Duchess Ava and one of the challengers Hunter’s Flame have put renewed focus on the senior championship with Huntsman’s Rebel seemingly home and hosed for the puppy crown.
Last night it was the turn of Miterdale Duchess to crank up the heat as she won at Fellside to get to three behind the leader again.
As they came up the hill there were only three or four yards between the first four but Denis Peare and Jackie Gill’s Miterdale Duchess hung on to beat Roy Laidler’s Kirkhead Rebel who remains four behind the table leaders.

In the puppy trail the in-form Foxparke Beep Beep continued her good run by scoring a narrow win over Debbie and Lana McGee’s Apache Raider with Lady Million finishing third.
The open restricted race was won by Charisma owned by Carol and Stanley Jackson. She finished well clear of Overwater Louie owned by James and Eleanor Irving and Donna Bingham’s Oakbank Izzy.
