Carlisle City swept past Braithwaite 13-1 to reach the second round of the County Cup.
The holders introduced several players without much game time so far with the Northern League side.
One of them, 16-year-old Ethan Scott stole the headlines with a hat-trick while recent signing Callum Birdsall helped himself to a first-half hat-trick.
They were both topped by Liam Studholme who scored four while it was a good night for Ryan Swailes whose two goals were his first for the club.
Braithwaite, from the Third Division of the Westmorland League showed plenty of spirit despite being outclassed and had two goals disallowed – one of them quite harshly.
Birdsall had put City ahead on four minutes but the visitors were level two minutes later through James Shaw.
Then Braithwaite had a goal chalked-off before Studholme and ex-Cleator Moor Celtic striker Birdsall gave City a 3-1 advantage by the 17th minute.
Braithwaite then had a second goal disallowed and before half-time Birdsall and Josh Simpson increased the home side’s lead to 5-1.
Swailes was delighted to score his first City goal on 52 minutes and Studholme moved to his hat-trick with goals in the 58th and 62nd minutes.
Young Scott was introduced after 55 minutes and he had a hand in creating Studholme’s hat-trick goal. Then Scott grabbed his first on 69 minutes.
Swailes (71) took City into double figures and Studholme (80) added his fourth.
The rest belonged to teenager Scott as he scored his second on 85 minutes and then completed his hat-trick two minutes from time after being fouled in the box and taking the penalty himself.
That was the only first round tie played so far with the rest being staged early in October.
