Seaton doesn’t generally attract a lot of hounds but there was a decent turnout for the latest HTA meeting.
The three trails drew an entry of 45 runners although none of the leading contenders for the senior title were involved.
Nevertheless it produced an exciting finish as Winterfell cleared the last fence in front and was then joined by Apache in a ding dong battle to the line.
Winterfell was the stronger and had pulled a few yards clear at the line for owners Barry Laidler and Caroline Clough. Especially pleased were the trainers Tom, Sarah and Ryan Bell who had travelled from Yorkshire for the meeting.

Seventeen pups were slipped for the junior trail with some of the leading youngsters apart from table leader Huntsman’s Rebel.

When they showed Lucky Lottie was giving the local hound Silver Streak a run for her money but as they cleared the last fence the race was over. Silver Streak pulled away well to win easily for the joint owners Nicola and Darren McMaster, Sadie Wilson and Phil Graham.

The open restricted field had 18 contestants and it was Lee Wall’s Denton Shamrock who came with the lead, jumped the last fence well and came home strongly to beat Nicola and Darren McMaster’s Silver Dancer.
