Leading Cumbrian family firm Lloyd Motor Group has acquired a South Lakes dealership.
Lloyd Motor Group has acquired PV Dobson in Levens, near Kendal and will rename it Lloyd South Lakes – Volvo Cars.
Completion of the acquisition follows its new Lloyd Kia South Lakes site in Morecambe. The medium-term plan is to house both Volvo and Kia at the current site in Levens.
The group also operates Lloyd BMW South Lakes and Lloyd MINI South Lakes in the region.
Lloyd South Lakes – Volvo Cars is the business’ second Volvo retailer. It originally represented the manufacturer in Cockermouth since 1977 before later moving to Carlisle. Lloyd Motor Group has over four decades of experience with Volvo.
Bryan Lloyd, chief executive of Lloyd Motor Group, said: “We are pleased to be adding this site to the group and representing Volvo in the south of Cumbria. This acquisition is an exciting opportunity for Lloyd Motor Group, and will allow us to strengthen our offering across the region and further our relationship with the Volvo brand. We look forward to delivering the unique Lloyd customer experience to both new and existing customers in the area.
“We are delighted to take over the business from PV Dobson, who, like us, recognise their family values as one of the foundations to their success. We hope to continue their good work, and can assure existing customers that they will be well looked-after by our team. We’d like to thank Chris and Bridget Hammond and all of the Dobson family, and we wish them the very best in their future projects.”
Lloyd Motor Group opened its first dealership in 1976 and the family-owned company has now grown to employ over 1,100 people across more than 30 locations throughout the north of England and south of Scotland.
