Whitehaven have retained the services of another of their local-based players.
Connor Holliday has signed a new one-year deal which will see him ready to tackle his ninth season at the LEL Arena.
Holliday, 27, who joined Haven from the Kells club has already made 143 appearances for the club, starting in 90 of them.
In that time he has scored 251 points from 32 tries, 61 goals and one drop goal.
Last season he played in 17 games, scoring seven tries and kicking seven goals, but was missing with a calf injury towards the end of the campaign.
Whitehaven’s head coach Jonty Gorley said: “Connor is one of Whitehaven’s longest serving players and we forget it he is only still 27, so really speaking he is entering in his prime as a rugby player.
“I’m going to challenge Connor with nailing down a regular starting position in my team this year, because he’s definitely good enough and talented enough to do this.
“Connor is one of our most potent attacking threats who is a great line runner. He’s a big lad who can hit and spin out of a tackle, he’s got an off-load and he knows where the try line is.
“So it’s good to get him back with us for another season especially as he’s another home-town player.”
Once again the club has expressed its thanks for “the fantastic work of the Vice Presidents to continue our work in building our squad for the 2023 season.”
