Graham Reid with Strawberry Mick winner of the puppy trail at Seaton.

The weather kept surprisingly dry for most of the HTA meeting at Seaton – and in keeping there were some surprise results.

Winterfell went into the meeting in-form and in contention for the senior championship but missed out.

He was sent-off the favourite of eight runners for the opener and when they showed he was bang there.

As they came through the last fields Winterfell had Cracking Last One Two for company.

Then over the last fence Winterfell had the advantage and just had to keep going to win but Cracking Last One Too, a former puppy champion, dug deep and got up in the last stride to win it at 3/1.

There were 11 pups and course specialist Silver Streak was sent-off the even money favourite.

In fact there were a number of hounds in contention when they came over the last fence and there was a white hound among them – but it wasn’t Silver Streak.

In fact it was a 12/1 shot Strawberry Mick owned by Graham and Les Reid who came through for the surprise win – but to the delight of the bookies.

Alan O’Fee with Barncroft Express winner of the open restricted trail at Seaton

Only six contested the open non-winners with joint favourites at 6/4  Overwater Eddie and Kinniside Bobby.

At the finish, though, it was Kinniside Bobby who came home with a good lead from Gary Woodend’s Twilight Mist.

Overwater Louise has shown some form in recent runs and was the favourite at 5/2 for the final trail of 14 open restricted.

However it was the local hound Alan O’Fee’s Barncroft Express who came with the lead and just managed to hold on to beat Ron with Silver Dancer in third.
