A historic Cumbrian brewery is on the market for £750,000.
It was bought by Carlsberg Marston’s Brewing Company in 2005 and continued to be used as a commercial brewery operation. Towler Shaw Roberts has been instructed to market the property by CMBC Supply Limited.
Toby Shaw of TSR, who is handling the sale, said the property remains suitable for reopening as a commercial brewing operation or as a regeneration project.
The property, situated within the Cockermouth Conservation Area, features an extensive complex of interconnecting buildings, extending in total to approximately 1.73 acres.
The principal brewery operation, comprising a range of period buildings, is on the south side of Brewery Lane, with more modern buildings providing storage and warehouse accommodation set around the principal courtyard entrance.
The former Maltings is on the north side of Brewery Lane. A visitor centre and bar and catering facility has been developed in one of the older buildings, with an outside seating area overlooking the River Cocker.
The Maltings comprise an impressive five-storey Grade II Listed building with a single storey addition and an external yard area to the western part of the site.
The main building has been adapted and converted to provide storage facilities on the ground floor with two of the upper floors being for office use. Onsite car parking and loading and delivery areas are provided with direct access from Brewery Lane.
