Popular forward Stevie Scholey has re-signed for Workington Town ahead of the 2023 League One season.

The 26-year-old joined Town back in 2015 from Maryport where he was regarded as an up-and-coming young forward.

He played in two pre-season warm-up games and showed enough to be taken onto the professional books.

At the time he said he was making the step up in search of a new challenge after touring with the Great Britain amateur side.

He had to wait to earn a regular slot in the Town pack but when he did he soon won over the fans with his wholehearted and committed approach.

Unfortunately the 2022 season proved something of a non-event for Scholey as he had to undergo a knee construction operation and missed the vast majority of the campaign.

His signing has been well received by the Workington fans who see him as a perfect fit in a more Cumbria-orientated squad.
