WATCH: Jive talking – Helen Skelton and Gorka Marquez wow judges on Strictly come Dancing

Cumbria’s Helen Skelton has wowed the judges on this week’s Strictly Come Dancing with her jive moves.

Dance partner Gorka Marquez – who has adopted Penrith as his home while the pair are rehearsing in the town – said he tried a different teaching method this week.

It involved meditation – and they tried it for the first time on Wednesday. It went well, Helen told Claudia Winkleman, except Gorka fell asleep after nine minutes.

Their jive – which saw the pair in matching black and white outfits – left the judges overflowing with praise. A tiny mistake – which happened right in front of Craig – didn’t stop the quartet saying how amazing the dance was.

Motsi said: “Last week I said you gave off final vibes. today, you made a statement that you are going to be in the final. It was magnificent. That was fantastic.”

Shirley called it ‘just divine’ and Anton said he loved every minute.

Craig said: “The mistake happened right in front of me – I was reaching for my 10 paddle. I was disappointed…”

In response, Helen did a cartwheel.

She certainly looked the most relaxed on the dancefloor than she has ever done this series and told Claudia: “I loved every minute of it!”

The pair were given three nines and a 10 from Anton – making it their highest score of the series and the highest scoring jive of the series.
