Those behind plans to revamp a part of Workington town centre to encourage more people to stay and boost investment need to hear from you.
Murray Road and Central Way are in line for the windfall, as part of the £23.1 million Town Deals Fund.
Cumbria county and Allerdale councils are working on the proposals and want to hear from people and businesses in the town.
The proposal is to improve the look and feel of Murray Road and Central Way with wider pavements, better signs, seating and green areas
Creating a more welcoming gateway to the town centre, it is hoped, will encourage higher footfall, increase dwelling time, stimulate private investment and support the financial viability of the town centre.
The councils said feedback gathered from a recent consultation with local businesses showed a good level of interest and support for proposals. .
Councillor Anthony Markley, chairman of the county council’s Local Area Committee for Allerdale, said: “It’s great to have secured investment for this part of town, where environmental enhancements will benefit pedestrians, the businesses and their customers.
“Proposals are still in the early stages of development, and we want to gather people’s views and ideas to help us shape plans as they progress.
“I’d encourage everyone to take a look at the consultation material and give us their feedback. This will help us to make sure we design a scheme that fits the needs of future users, as well as the objectives for the town.”
The consultation can be found on the council’s website here and takes about 10 minutes to complete.
