A West Cumbrian man has been given a jail term after he admitted grooming a teenage girl over social media and later.

Graham Green, 37, of High Stowbank, Frizington, appeared at Carlisle Crown Court today.

He had pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing of two counts of engaging in non-penetrative sexual activity with a girl and meeting a girl under 16 years of age following grooming.

The offences took place between June and August 2021 between Green and two girls.

Green spoke to a girl via social media before arranging to meet them and supplied them with alcohol and cigarettes.

On one occasion, Green picked up the girls and provided them with alcohol and cigarettes and assaulted the girls.

He was sentenced to a year and nine months in prison, issued with a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will be entered onto the sexual offender’s register.

Detective Constable Alastair Clarke said: “I would urge anyone who has been subject to offences of this nature to come forward, any reports will be taken seriously and will be dealt with professionally and sensitively.

“Green was aware of their age and supplied them with alcohol and cigarettes before subjecting them to a sexual assault. This result shows the seriousness taken over these offences.”
