Poignant presentation night for Workington Victoria FC

Megan Higgins presents the Michael Cape Memorial Trophy to George Lawman of Martindale and Lawman.

Workington Victoria FC’s annual presentation night was a poignant one at the weekend.

Last year the club lost one of its youngest members in Michael Cape and his friends have sponsored a perpetual trophy in his memory.

This was presented by one of the group Megan Higgins to the inaugural winners Richard Martindale and George Lawman.

Club chairman Jimmy Hadfield presented the other awards to the following fanciers:

  • M&L Cape, 1pt plus Senhouse St Trophy
  • Blacklock & Sons 14 points, 2 club Specials and 1st Channel Av
  • Mr & Mrs J Walters & Son 18points
  • Varty, Son and Grandson 22 points, Club Special, 1st OB and Combined Averages
  • Williams & Hadfield  25 points,3 trophies including Mrs W Irving Shield
  • McLuckie Bros, 39 points, J&A Edgar Cup
  • Evans & Abraham 51 points, Carlisle Glass Cup 
  • Martindale & Lawman 87 points, Inland Av, YB Av cups, Most points in Club and Fed.

Long-time Victoria member, Ian Broatch, presented the partnership with the trophy for most points in the Derwent Valley Federation.
