A Carlisle councillor has called for action over road safety after a man died in a collision.
The man in his 60s, died following the two-car collision on Well Lane on Friday.
Liberal Democrat Brian Wernham said it was the second fatality on the roads in the Stanwix area this year and has called for action to be taken.
He said: “A second traffic death in the Stanwix conservation area this year today occurred in Well Lane. My thoughts are with the family and friends of the man in his 60s who died.
“I have today called upon the chair of the Cumbria County Council Local Committee to consider again my plea for a traffic safety plan.
“Earlier this year I made a speech in person to the committee. In that speech I specifically detailed the traffic dangers in Well Lane, just around a hairpin bend from the Stanwix Primary School. My request to the committee was refused.
”Such a traffic safety plan should be urgently initiated by the outgoing county councillors and quickly and seamlessly passed on to the Cumberland unitary authority to enact.”
