A Cumbrian fell runner has gone missing in Madeira.
Darren Kay, 52, of Sedbergh, was on holiday with his partner.
The pair went on a two-hour run on Sunday and Mr Kay decided to continue by himself for 30 minutes.
He has not been seen since, the BBC is reporting.
Mr Kay’s family has flown out to the island to help with the search.
Island police have been informed and it is understood an official search is underway.
However, sources on the island say there has been severe fog for the past two days and strong winds are stopping search parties sending up drones.
They added: “The search and rescue teams are good and will do everything possible to find him. However, the topography here is not straightforward, so this will also impact on the search.”
