
Police carried out stop and searches and delivered 200 leaflets in a day of action against drugs in Maryport.
It was carried out by Allerdale’s neighbourhood policing team on January 12.
Officers conducted 11 stop and searches of people and vehicles.
One of the stops of an individual was positive and that person is under investigation for the offence of possession of a class A drug.
Officers also patrolled around Maryport and posted 200 leaflets to homes in the area of Moorside Drive and Ellenfoot following reports of drug activity in the area.
Also during the activity, a vehicle collided with a police vehicle.
James Varty, 51, of Flimby, was arrested and later charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis and failing to stop after a road accident.
He is set to appear at magistrates court on January 31.
Allerdale Neighbourhood policing Inspector Pete Aiston said “This activity was in response to concerns raised to us by the community.
“Our presence was known, and we will continue to disrupt this activity proactively.
“Intelligence has been gathered on drug activity within the Maryport area and we will continue to target those throughout the supply chain.”
