
Workington Comets’ youngest rider Luke Harrison is entered for the British Youth Championships this coming season.
Only 15, the Scunthorpe-based rider was the 250cc champion last season and is among the early entries for the 500cc class this time.
Over 30 riders have already registered their entry for the 2023 British Youth Championship as preparations for the new season continue.
Places are still available for any other interested riders, and the line-up so far is as follows:
- 500cc: 9 Luke Harrison, 53 Laylan Richardson, 54 Max James, 522 Ashton Boughen, 665 Jody Scott, 777 Billy Budd.
- 250cc: 10 Jack Franklin, 22 Jamie Etherington, 63 Cooper Rushen, 145 William Cairns, 152 Ashton Vale, 159 Stene Pijper, 266 Caydin Martin.
- 125cc/150cc: 2 Emerson Betty, 3 Archie Rolph, 4 Joe Brice, 6 Seth Norman, 7 Rocco Webb, 8 Kayden Mundy, 15 Oliver Bovingdon, 23 Harry Fletcher, 40 Ellis Newell, 51 Liam Morris, 77 Jack Scully-Syer, 91 Oliver Binns, 123 Charlie Fletcher, 176 Stasiu Stevens, 216 Adam Sidyk, 322 Lewis Hague, 505 Casper Kluczniak, 914 Rhys Harrow, Charlie Luckman, Charlie Southwick.
Harrison has been courted by several clubs chose to the join the Comets, with the prospect of excelling on the new track.
Comets Promoter Andrew Bain said, “I am delighted to have Luke on board as we start our exciting new season.
“He will start the season as a reserve but I believe he has the potential to move into the main body of the team before the season ends.
“At just fifteen years old, he is the most exciting prospect of his age.”
Harrison claimed the 2022 250cc class title by a clear 10 points, despite missing the final round due to National League commitments with Mildenhall.
He made a small number of late season guest appearances for the Fen Tigers, figuring prominently especially in the play off semi-finals against Berwick where he raced to a heat win in his very first race at this level, coming from third place to overcome the home pair.
