Former Carlisle United boss Keith Curle hopes to have a new striker in his armoury for Tuesday night’s return to Brunton Park.
His Hartlepool chairman Raj Singh suggested over the week-end that Curle had four targets he was actively chasing.
Before Saturday’s vital 2-0 win over Rochdale, Singh said that Pool have made enquiries or bids for four strikers – two of them in League One and the others from League Two.
Curle is desperate to bring in support for top scorer Josh Umerah who scored on Saturday to take his tally to 12 for the season.
Singh suggested the club have submitted enquiries or bids for four strikers – two from League One as well as two from League Two as they look for ways to aid 12-goal striker Josh Umerah in the final third.
Singh is philosophical and told the fans: “As the manager has mentioned in his interviews, we are not going to be some players’ first choice because of our league position, but believe me when I say; we are very active in the transfer market and are competing financially with all of the other clubs around us.
“I sincerely hope one, or even two, of those signings come off and I can prove all those doubters wrong.”
Curle has already revealed that Mansfield Town’s Danny Johnson is one of his targets and he has already spoken to the player and his manager Nigel Clough.
Johnson is also attracting interest from Walsall, however, and the Stags are reported to be re-assessing the situation as Johnson is into double figures with goals this season.
On his search for more fire power Curle said: “We’re shopping at the right places. I’m confident that we will get more dynamic players into the building by the end of the window and we’ll have a more balanced squad and have more competition for places within the squad.”
In fact Curle has added a player to his squad ahead of the Carlisle game – but not a goal scorer – a goal stopper.
Jakub Stolarczyk, a 22-year-old keeper with Premier League Leicester City is making his third loan move.
The Poland youth international, who joined Leicester in 2021 has previously been out on loan at Dunfermline Athletic where he played 11 times but didn’t make a senior League appearance at Fleetwood Town during his time there.
Curle said of the 6ft 4ins recruit: “We’re delighted to bring Jakub to the club. We know he will work well alongside Ben (Killip) and Kyle [Letheren] and we thank Leicester for allowing us to bring him in.”
