This year’s Boof Festival is to be the last for the foreseeable future, organisers have said.

Taking to social media, event runners of the Whitehaven-based festival said they made the decision to focus on other events they are involved with, including Whitehaven Alive.

The festival, which has been running since 2021, has in the past welcomed well known bands such as The Snuts and Lottery Winners – blending both local talent with big names in the music industry.

The event this year is set to take place on August 18 and 19 and organisers are billing it the ‘Best of the Boof’ with plans to bring back favourite artists from previous years.

In a statement on social media, The Mighty Boof said: “We are finalising this year’s line up at present and we will have some announcements very soon…

“This year’s Boof Festival will be the last for the foreseeable while the team concentrate on other events we are involved with like Whitehaven Alive

“With that in mind we are billing this one as a Best of the Boof and bringing back a few favourites from previous years along with a load of new stuff too…

“We wanna thank you for all the support you have shown us across 17 years of events in Cumbria its been a blast….and we will be back at some point…..

But for now lets go one last time. 18 -19 August 2023. Watch this space.”
