Both sides will benefit from a competitive warm-up game between Maryport and Seaton Rangers.
It was National Conference side Seaton who came out on top 32-16 after three 30-minute segments gave time for both clubs to use their full squad of players.
Cumberland ARL side hosts Maryport in fact led the first half an hour 12-0 with tries from Craig Foster and Rob Ferguson, both converted by Gary Taylor.
Maryport gave senior debuts to six of last season’s Under-16’s squad in the second segment, during which Seaton came back to lead 22-12.
Billy Southward crossed twice for the Rangers and was joined on the sheet by Levi Wallbanks and Jordan Pritt with Jon-Carl Bryan kicking three goals.
The final 30 minutes was the closest of the lot during which time Seaton extended their lead to 32-16 with tries from Joe Curwen and 16-year-old Byron Coulson, one of which was converted by Bryan.
Maryport scored a third try by Chris Ivison which was not converted.
Afterwards one of the Maryport coaches Simon Pattinson said: “It was a great hit-out for both clubs and we both will have gained a lot from it.
“We were especially pleased to see our Under-16s from last season in action and that will have done them all good. We want to give them plenty of experience.
“Our next game is on February 11 at Maryport when we have Roose coming-up with a team and we are all looking forward to that.
“The other big thing for us is that a lot of lads were able to play in the game; there was a very good crowd watching and the clubhouse was absolutely chocka block afterwards.”
Peter Gilmour the Seaton chairman said: “It was a very good first hit out and all credit to Maryport, they looked a really good outfit.
“Once we shook off the rust we started to play some good rugby on the edges but overall both teams will have taken plenty from the game.”
Seaton have two more games to look forward to as they prepare for the first National Conference game. They host Egremont on February 11 and on February 18 Dewsbury Celtic are bringing a team to play them at Seaton.
