In an absorbing quarter final tie Workington Juniors made progress in the County Cup for Under-18s when they beat Cleator Moor Celtic 4-3.
It went all the way down to the wire for Workington keeper Scott Paden Gale produced a dramatic penalty save in the very last minute.
The tie was always closely contested with Celtic twice in front at 2-1 and 3-2, although they turned round all square 3-3 after an eventful first-half.
In the end Josh Palmer scored the only goal of the second-half which won the game – aided by Paden-Gale’s heroics at the finish.

Cain Pears had given Reds the lead but they twice needed equalisers from Robbie Savage and Lewis Moore before Palmer struck in the second-half.
Celtic, who had lost 1-0 and won 1-0 in the two West Cumbria Youth League clashes with Reds earlier in the season, scored through Ben McCarron, Ethan Smith and Jay Taylor.

Workington Juniors also had an Under-17s side in the com[petition but they went down 3-2 against an Abbeytown side of a similar age.
In the other quarter finals Crown Newlaithes beat Dalston Black Reds 4-2, again with both teams fielding Under-17’s players while holders Penrith beat Warwick Wanderers 3-0
