Maryport’s Senhouse Street has reopened for pedestrians after a fire gutted a bakery last week.
The blaze at the Bakehouse in the early hours of Wednesday was so severe that at its height, 10 fire crews were called in from all over the county.
It gutted the four-storey building.
Specialist contractors were called in on Thursday to demolish the mid-terrace property because it was unsafe.
Workers from Workington-based Stobbarts Ltd worked through the night to dismantle the building and it was hoped the road would reopen on Friday, but structural issues and ongoing work to make the building safe meant the road had to remain shut.
Some nearby businesses remained shut for safety reasons while the work was carried out.

The road has now reopened to foot traffic. The road remains closed to vehicles.
An Allerdale council spokesman said: “Allerdale Borough Council’s Building Control team have been working closely with the building’s owners and on site engineers to ensure the site is safe and secure.
“Senhouse Street will remain closed to vehicles until the engineers are satisfied that the street is safe. Some of the retail units on Senhouse Street have now reopened and can now be accessed by pedestrians.”
An investigation was immediately launched by Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service and Cumbria police.
A fire service spokesman said: “We are continuing our investigation to identify the cause of the fire. This is a complex fire investigation which will continue over several days with both on and off site activity.
“An investigation of this length and nature is normal for the size and scale of this incident.”
