Cars parked in front of a vital access point for a Lake District mountain rescue team sparked a rebuke from the volunteer organisation.
Coniston Mountain Rescue Team, in a post on Facebook, apologised to any casualties if volunteers were later than usual to arrive at any incidents after cars parked directly in front of signs saying ‘no parking – mountain rescue access required at all times’ in the Walna Scar car park yesterday, February 25.
The team said: “Despite very clear signage, two unhelpful parties have parked in the Walna Scar car park blocking our access to the Walna Scar track. This will add some 20 minutes to our arrival at any incidents in the Dow Crag, Goat’s Hawse or western Old Man areas.
“At least eight volunteers plus all our rescue kit will now have to start at the car park rather than much further up the track.
“Please, please do not park in a way that blocks a clearly marked mountain rescue access point.”
