North and North East Cumbria has been ranked as one of the ‘easiest’ places to get a GP appointment in the UK.
Acumentice – a healthcare management consultancy who work with the NHS – have published a new study investigating how difficult it is across the UK to get a doctors appointment.
The data used in the study is based on the percentage of patients per integrated Care Board who were immediately offered an appointment when calling their local GP practice and the GP Patient Survey.
It found that North and North East Cumbria was the ninth easiest region in the UK to get a doctors appointment – closely followed by Norfolk and Waveney.
A total of 62 per cent of patients in the region were able to quickly secure an appointment after one call to their local GP practice.
A further nine out of 10 patients visiting a GP based in North and North East Cumbria were also offered a choice of appointment when they last needed one.
It also found that a whopping 82 per cent of people were satisfied with the times available and overall, 21,783 patients said they had successfully booked appointments in 2022 in the area.
The introduction of the task force was sparked by a Workington dentists surgery closing to new NHS patients – leaving the town without an NHS dentist – and the reorganisation of GPs in the town into a single group.
