The Cumberland is closing its Maryport branch for 12 days for a full makeover that will refresh and modernise its look.
The building society is now the town’s only bank and Cumberland cluster manager Matt Whitfield said he was pleased to be showing a commitment to customers and the people of Maryport.
It will temporarily close from 4pm on Thursday March 16 and reopen at 9.30am on Tuesday March 28. It will continue to offer the same counter service once it reopens.
Matt added: “We have a busy branch with a lot of footfall as customers of all ages come in and rely on us so it’s great that we are refreshing the branch to make it easier and feel more enjoyable to use our services.
“The branch is important for Maryport too because there are a lot of independent shops and they want somewhere to bring their takings each day.
“We still believe that the branches are important for good customer service. So while we have online services, a telephone service and an app we are still here for people who want to come in and speak to a real person.
“We’ll all be looking forward to welcoming back our customers and serving the community from March 28.”
Customers who usually visit the Maryport branch are being reminded that the nearest branches of The Cumberland are at Pow Street in Workington and Cockermouth. ATM cash machines can also be found at Herron’s, Spar and Tesco Local.
