Birmingham have completed their line-up for 2023 with the signing of former Workington Comets rider Ty Proctor.
The 36-year-old Australian was a treble-winner with Workington in 2018 but joins the Brummies for the Cab Direct Championship campaign on a 4.00 average after a tough time with Leicester and Berwick in recent seasons.
Tony Jackson, the former Workington team manager said: “Ty was a key member of our treble-winning side in 2018 and, although he suffered an injury in the first leg of the Championship Shield Final against Lakeside which ended his season, his presence in the pits helping the other guys in those five remaining legs of the finals should really not be underestimated.
“And, it is that experience that will be as much a benefit to the Birmingham side as his point-scoring abilities.
“Having won the Championship title with Leicester the year after winning it with us, recent seasons have seen his career not only interrupted by the pandemic but also by a succession of injuries.

“Last season at Berwick was a case in point where, having returned to the sport after some time out he was just starting to get into the point-scoring groove when a bad injury again curtailed his season.
“Hopefully, for both him and Birmingham he can have better luck this season and, if he can stay injury-free he will soon increase his starting average and prove to be a shrewd signing by Birmingham both on and off the track.”
Birmingham boss Laurence Rogers said: “We know Ty hasn’t had it easy since the return from Covid but at the same time, we do know what he is capable of and he could prove to be really strong during his time at reserve in particular.
“He seems to have rediscovered his enthusiasm for racing and we’re really pleased to finally have our team in place.”
