Kendal Town lost their Macron Cup semi-final dress rehearsal at Congleton 3-1 last night.
The League points were denied the Cumbrians after they led 1-0 at the break but conceded three second-half goals.
They will play Congleton in the semi-final of the Macron Cup at home next month when they will look to gain revenge.
Kendal had taken the lead on 19 minutes with another fine goal from top scorer Tom Kilifin. He flicked the ball over a defender before going on to clip his shot past the keeper.
Although Congleton probably had the better of the first-half Kendal were indebted to good work from debutant keeper Hayden Roberts who made a couple of very good stops.
The hosts were also much the more dangerous side in the second-half and it was no surprise when they drew level on 57 minutes with Tom Hampton turning home a corner.
It was another corner on 72 minutes that provided them with a second goal and this time Matt Flynn headed into his own net.
Apart from an effort from Ryan Winder which tested the home keeper Kendal rarely threatened and the home side clinched the points with a third goal at the death from George Sankey.
