Casualty rescued from River Eden by fire crews

Fire crews were called out to help rescue a person from banking by the River Eden in Carlisle.

Two fire engines were called to the incident at around 1.15pm yesterday, March 18.

Firefighters used rope rescue equipment and a stretcher to free the person, who was cared for the North West Ambulance Service.

Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service was on the scene for two hours and 30 minutes.
