Connor Holliday has played 150 games for his home-town club Whitehaven – and that’s official.
Whitehaven were ready to record the fact last Sunday in a thrilling win at York City Knights but there was a discrepancy between the club figures and those recorded by the RFL.
The stat men with the Rugby League only had the former Kells forward down for 149 – but the matter has now been cleared-up. Whitehaven got it right and he did play his 150th game for the club against the Knights.
Holliday made his debut in February 2015 in a 44-16 home defeat by Halifax and since then he has gone on to reach the 150 milestone, scoring 32 tries, kicking 61 goals and adding a field goal for a total of 251 points.
After three successive trips away – long ones as well – to Toulouse, London and York – Holliday and his team-mates can look forward to a home game at last on Sunday when they entertain Batley Bulldogs.
Meanwhile, another long-serving Whitehaven player Chris Taylor is enjoying a testimonial season but has had to cancel an event planned for this Saturday.
The 2019 League One title-winning squad were getting together with fans at the LEL Arena but unfortunately that has had to be shelved, although it will be fitted in later in the season.
