Prior to Saturday’s match Creighton had gone five home games without defeat in Counties Cumbria.
Coach Richard Liddle was confident of extending this as Hawcoat Park made the long journey from Barrow.
He was not off the mark, either, as they won again, beating the South Cumbrians 20-5.
Both sides tried to play handling rugby in extremely heavy conditions, and it was Creighton who opened the scoring after eight minutes when full-back Keenan Foster pounced on a loose ball to race over from 40 yards. George Dudley added the extras.
Five minutes later the visitors hit back with an unconverted try, but Dudley kicked a long range penalty to take the score to 10-5 at the break.
The opening exchanges of the second half were dominated by the visitors, who kept Creighton pinned on their own line for 15 minutes.
Eventually the home side cleared their lines and flanker Josh Gowling crossed to extend the lead.
The final score of the day came 10 minutes later when replacement Alasdair Middleton picked up a Hawcoat dropped pass and made 15 yards before scoring.
Both second half tries went unconverted.
