Wath Brow Hornets stage the match of the day in the National Conference with a Premier Division clash with West Hull.
The reigning champions have set off meaning business with three straight League wins – one of only three unbeaten teams in the competition.
Wath Brow are one of the others, though, but they did drop a point in a 16-16 draw at Lock Lane before hammering West Hull’s neighbours Hull Dockers 40-0 last week.
It’s going to be a tough, closely contested game with most likely little between the two sides with the winners going top as current leaders Hunslet ARLFC are involved in Challenge Cup action at Batley.
Kells have also started very well with only one defeat at Thatto Heath on their record. They will be looking to follow-up last week’s 12-4 win over Lock Lane with another home success against York Acorn.
Coach Peter Smith knows the key to consolidating their position back in the Premier Division this season will depend on good home form.
Acorn just escaped relegation last season but recorded their first win last week, a good 42-18 home success against Wigan St Patrick’s.
Two home wins and two away defeats so far for Egremont Rangers so fairly clear where the playing record needs improved. They get the chance tomorrow when they travel to Crosfields who have won once in three games so far and were beaten 24-12 at Clock Face last week.
Egremont came from 12-0 behind to beat Stanningley 26-12 at Gillfoot and will hope they have the armoury to bring back the points from Warrington.
Barrow Island lie mid-table early doors in Division Two and were beaten 46-26 at East Leeds last week. They did a lot better in the second-half (losing it 24-20) and will want to carry on more like that at home to Normanton Knights who have won once in three games.
Cumbria has four teams in Division Three and for the first week do not have a county derby on offer.
All four clubs are playing – three of them at home – and the pick of the crop is Millom versus Beverley.
The Woollybacks are in good heart after ending Ellenborough’s unbeaten start to life in the Conference and lie second in the table. Beverley are third but they are among six teams on four points, including leaders Elbra.
Drighlington are also in that leading group, the only unbeaten side in the Division, but they have only played two games and tomorrow make the trip to west Cumbria to play Seaton Rangers.
Leigh East are also among the six joint leaders and they entertain Hensingham, whose derby clash with Seaton last week was called0off because of a waterlogged pitch.
As for the leaders Ellenborough they welcome Eastmoor Dragons to Maryport and will be expecting to resume winning ways against a side who struggled last season and have lost both their opening games this time round.
