Youth and experience for Penrith as they take on Morpeth

Penrith have gone again for a mixture of youth and experience for their second Papa John’s Trophy tie tomorrow at home to Morpeth.

It will be similar in make-up to the one which narrowly lost 41-40 at Bowdon in the first Pool game.

The Regional 2 North champions will use the same 10 forwards who travelled to Bowdon only this time Sam Kirkman and Lee Chapman will start with Andy Muir and Lewis Elliott dropping to the bench.

Teenager Rob Coward who scored four tries at Bowdon continues at scrum half while Jamie McNaughton comes back in at centre after being injured, to replace Kris Bratton.

It’s a significant game for Ben Littleton as he plays his first game after being injured in the pre-season warm-up game at Dumfries back in August.

The side is: Lee Chapman, Craig Price, Adam Howe, Ben Higgens, Chris Jackson, Sam Kirkman, Dylan Thompson, Archie Rattray, Rob Coward, Ross Jackson, Jamie McNaughton, Joe Spencely, Kris Bratton, Fraser Nicholson, Nick Dudson. Replacements: Andy Muir, Lewis Elliott, Ben Littleton.

Penrith have also confirmed that their final League game at Durham City, which had been twice postponed, will now not be played.

It can’t be fitted in because of Papa John Trophy obligations and was a dead rubber in any case with the League won.
