The race will take place in the town centre on August 19.

Barrow BID will bring all other aspects of the event in-house, allowing it to use local businesses Local community radio station CandoFM will provide the event commentary, with Barrow-based hire firm Larkin Engineering Services supplying safety barriers and apprentices at Furness College providing engineering support.

New to this year’s event will be the addition of new course obstacles, including a splash zone, sponsored by GrimefightersUK, which competitors will have to carefully negotiate to make it over the finish line in the fastest time possible.
There will also be prizes awarded for other categories such as the most innovative cart design and best turned-out soapbox crew.
