
Cumbria League champions Carlisle are preparing to launch their junior cricket training programme at Edenside.
There’s also going to be a special focus on girls cricket which will start next month and the club has announced substantial sponsorship from North Lakes Energy for the whole junior programme.
A spokesman said: “We are naturally delighted and extremely grateful for this generous backing in what promises to be an exciting year at the club.”
The first session of the year for boys is on Tuesday (April 18) with the Under-13s taking part from 6pm to 7.30pm. That’s followed on Thursday, April 20 by the Under-15s from 6pm to 7.30pm and on Friday, April 21 it will be the Under-11s from 5.30pm to 7pm.
Cricket training for girls, aged eight to 15, is being held on Friday nights, 6pm to 7pm starting on May 12. The sessions are all free to attend.
Carlisle’s Cumbria county player Nico Watt is the junior co-ordinator at the club who will be overseeing the sessions.
The club also run the popular All Stars and Dynamos programme which will be held for eight weeks on Saturdays, 9am to 10am, beginning on May 6.
