Back at Low Place where the sun was a welcome addition, the HTA meeting proved a battle between the respective Miterdale and Huntsman kennels.

Denis Bland and Alan Little’s Patterdale hound Huntsman’s Quantum made it three out of three winning nicely from Denise Bland and Glenis Farren’s Huntsman’s Rally.

That third win now takes Huntsman’s Quantum one point clear at the top of the senior championship from Huntsman’s Quartz.

The home team got one back when they won the open puppy trail with Kinniside Miracle, currently being kennelled at Low Place for Ian Rudd and Tony Jackson.

The little bitch beat Denise and Jenny Bland and Graeme Little’s Huntsman’s Star into second place with Sophie Steele’s Miterdale Diamond finishing third ahead of her other hound Miterdale Dainty.

The home team had another win in the open restricted when Miterdale Favour took first place followed by Megan Telford’s Fire Belle, one of the hounds that transferred over from the Border Association at the start of the season.

Another ex-Border hound Fire Ball took sixth ticket for Alice Scott.

Last year’s open restricted champion Oakbank Izzy finished third for Alec Steele and Donna Bingham.

The final race was for veterans in which Forlorn Spring won nicely from another of Denise Bland’s hounds Huntsman’s Major.

Denis Pear and Jack Gill’s Hawkswood finished in third place which was enough to take the lead in the Veterans Points Championship after just two races.

It’s back to fields and dykes this afternoon at Oulton which starts a four-race card at 1pm.
