Pigeon fanciers have raised £400 for the Lake District Mountain Rescue Search Dog Association.
It originated with the Ladies’ charity stall at the annual Blackpool Show which raised £610 for local charitable causes.
The stall was run by Meryl Blacklock (Cumbria) and Carol Gardener (Wales) and it was agreed that the amount would be divided equally between Cumbria and Wales.
In the picture Meryl, from Workington and Beverley Bowman, stewardess of the Union Jack Club in Workington are handing over cheques, totalling £400, to Mike Gullen from the Lake District Mountain Rescue and Search Dogs Association. Mike was assisted by his dog Marty.
The amount was made up by £305 from the Show of the Year, £40 from the Workington Victoria Flying Club and £55 from the members of the Union Jack Club.
Mike passed on his thanks to all concerned on behalf of the association.
