It’s time to Spread the News and Rock the Pews and get yourselves to Theatre by The Lake in Keswick to get that Sunday Morning Fever with Sister Act.
Based on the beloved film, this story of music, mishaps and nuns on the run is a joyous and uplifting tale of finding your voice and singing out with your sisters by your side.
Keswick Amateur Operatic Society is bringing the feel-good musical to the town.
Nightclub singer Deloris Van Cartier has witnessed a gangland killing. The cops put in her protective custody in the one place they’re sure she’ll never be a found: a convent!
Disguised as a nun, she finds herself at odds with both the rigid lifestyle and uptight Mother Superior.
Using her unique disco moves and singing talent, Deloris breathes new life into the church, the community and the power of her newly found sisterhood. But will the mob catch up with her?
With just over two weeks until opening night what better way to celebrate than meeting some of the cast!

First up is the stunningly talented Cole Kelly as nightclub singer Deloris Van Cartier. Cole has previously played Wednesday Addams in KAOS’ production of The Addams Family. She is looking forward to all the glitz and glamorous costumes this time round!
Uptight Mother Superior is played by Sara Royle who is a local headteacher and can be found most playtimes shouting prayers at passing children. Her favourite line in the show is: “Heavenly Father, you are throwing quite a few curveballs my way”.
James Hutchinson, who plays cop, Eddie Souther says: “If I wasn’t in this production I would 100 per cent have my ticket booked for a night out with my friends. It’s so much fun, such a feel-good show and I think everybody can relate to the characters in one way or another.”
Sister Act is at the Theatre by the Lake in Keswick from Thursday May 4 to Sunday May 7.
