Man in 80s dies following South Cumbrian crash

A man in his 80s has died following a collision in South Cumbria.

The incident happened at around 1.20pm yesterday, May 2, on the A684 fly-over bridge at Junction 37 near Kendal of the M6.

The collision involved two cars, a Peugeot 208 and a black Smart Forfour.

The driver of the Green Peugeot 308, a man in his 80s was taken to Preston hospital with serious injuries.

A man in his 80s, a passenger in the Peugeot, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman in her 80s, a passenger in the Peugeot, was taken to Preston Hospital with a chest injury.

A fourth passenger, a man in his 70s, was taken to Preston Hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the Smart, a man in his 70s, was taken to Preston with minor injuries and passenger in the Smart was taken to Lancaster hospital with serious injuries.

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or has relevant dashcam footage to get in touch.

Anyone who witnesses the collision is asked to contact police. Report online at www.cumbria.police.uk/report-it, quoting incident number 125 of 2 May 2023, call 101 or email the serious collision investigation unit at [email protected]
