Workington Finches won the Women’s Junior Plate Final at Twickenham after a thrilling clash with Avonmouth Ladies went to extra time.
The game, on Bank Holiday Monday, had finished 22-22 but in the extra-time period the Finches scored a try and were able to hang on as Avonmouth applied strong late pressure.
It had been an exciting game between two evenly-matched sides with the lead changing hands five times before the crucial extra-time winner for the West Cumbrians.
