Two of Workington Reds longest serving players have agreed to go round again and their play-off final match-winner has re-signed as well!
Conor Tinnion, 32, is the first of last season’s promotion-winning squad to have been confirmed as staying at Borough Park.
His return was swiftly followed by that of defender Dan Wordsworth who are both former Carlisle United Youth team players.
Then to complete a busy day of announcement Lewis Reilly, the former Crewe and Marine striker, has agreed a new deal with the club.
Tinnion had indicated at the recent club presentation night that he was ready to have another season with the Reds.
He said: “I’m really pleased to have signed on for another year. Last year felt like the club got what we have deserved for the last few years so hopefully we can use that momentum to push on again in the Northern Premier.
“I will be excited to get going again as I think we have the squad to go and surprise a lot of people next season.”
Manager Danny Grainger has long been an admirer of what Tinnion brings to the team, in both ability and leadership qualities.
In the closing stages of the season Grainger had to carefully look after Tinnion, who had suffered niggling injuries and it was to his credit that he played in the two play-off games and shone in both.
Wordsworth, too, had one or two knocks to nurse in the closing stages of the season in which he ended by picking up the coveted Players’ Player of the Year award – a reflection on how highly he’s rated by his team-mates.

He had re-signed a year ago keen to go again and finish the business that Grainger had started in his first spell at the club.
Once he knew he was returning as manager his immediate response was “where do I sign” and although 33 at the end of September still has plenty to offer the club.
Although never a permanent fixture in the side Liverpool-based Reilly came up with some valuable goals when given the opportunity – none more so than in the final when he grabbed the extra-time winner.
He had helped Marine to promotion the previous season after starting his career with Crewe.
Manager Grainger is delighted to have got his first re-signings completed and fans can expect a clutch of announcements over the next few weeks.
He is currently involved in discussions with the squad who completed the promotion season as well as talking to potential new recruits.
