Plea for fan to give Whitehaven rugby player a home

Whitehaven have the chance to sign a new player for the remainder of the season and are looking for a fan to help out.

The Vice Presidents have issued a Facebook request to any supporter who would be able to accommodate the player for the next four months.

Over a number of years the Vice Presidents have backed the club in a series of player recruitments and want to help again.

Saturday’s Summer Bash defeat to Barrow leaves Whitehaven just points above the drop zone in the Betfred Championship with one game left until the half-way point of the season.

Whitehaven are said to be in turmoil over finances and have been unable to bring in the number of loan players that have served them well in recent seasons.

However they were close last week to bringing in two from Castleford until injury problems for the Tigers necessitated them to change their mind over the loans.

No more details on the player available for the next four months have been issued by the club but if accommodation can be found in the area a deal is likely.
