The Bakehouse

A Cumbrian bakery and deli has been put up for sale with an £125,000 asking price.

Bill Ridgway took over The Old Bakehouse in Arnside eight-and-a-half years ago and has now decided to retire.

The business, which is also a cafe, is on the main promenade and has operated for over 70 years.

Renowned for its selection of freshly baked pies and pastries, the café is set over three floors and also includes a takeaway hatch to the side of the property, providing hot drinks and pastries to go.

Bill said: “It has been a pleasure offering traditional bakery products to locals and visitors in this beautiful part of the world.”

It is being sold by Christie & Co.

Ashley Cobban, senior business agent, said: “I’m delighted to bring to market The Old Bakehouse. The delicatessen and bakery is already a well-established and popular local business, but there is a huge opportunity for potential purchasers to bring new profitable ideas and see it grow even further.”
