In the latest round of matches in the West Cumbria Midweek League Workington TLM earned their third successive victory.

Helping to set the pace in the revived League they beat a Workington CC team by 17 runs at the Valentine Ground.

They had plenty of runs at the top of the order through Malcolm Wood (33 ret), Matthew Wood (30ret) and Tom McGeen (26).

Then late cameos from Andrew Hamilton and Adam Walker, who both made 24, saw the TLM side reach an impressive 190 in 18.3 overs.

Liam Hazzard (2-2) and Matt Lannaghan (2-24) were the most successful Workington CC bowlers.

Despite losing three early wickets Workington CC made a bold bid to chase the target led by Hazzard (30 ret), Liam Irving (32no) and Robson Scott (33ret).

They were also helped by 26 extras but at the end of their 20 overs had reached 173-5.

Five of the TLM bowlers each took a wicket with Aidan Tomlinson (1-2) and Josh Cape (1-5) the pick.
