Former Whitehaven forward Tom Wilkinson has rejoined the professional game by signing for Barrow Raiders.
Raiders have signed the talented Wilkinson on dual-registration and he goes straight into the 21-man squad ahead of Sunday’s home game against Batley Bulldogs.
He returned to his amateur roots after a successful spell with fellow Betfred Championship side Whitehaven, having made 70 appearances for the West Cumbrians over a four-year spell.
Wilkinson, who was a hugely popular player during his time at the LERL Arena, was also named Haven’s Player of the Year in 2021.
He becomes the Raiders’ second signing of the week, with young Wigan Warriors prop forward Harvey Makin also arriving at the Matt Johnson Prestige Stadium on an initial one-month loan deal.
Makin, 19, has been playing rugby league since he was six and joined the Warriors from the amateur club Wigan St. Jude’s.
He signed his first Wigan contract in 2020 and was one of sic Warriors to represent Lancashire in the 2021 Origin Academy clash with Yorkshire.
He has already spent time on loan with Oldham in League One and in two appearances scored a debut try in the Challenge Cup.
