
Cumbria, enjoying their annual progress in the NCCA Trophy competition, have to refocus this weekend for the start of the Championship programme.
Their opening fixture on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday is at the Furness club against Bedfordshire with play due to start at 11am on each day.
Carlisle’s Michael Slack will lead the side which is made up mainly of players who have been successful in the 50-overs competition.
However brought in for the first time this season ar the Carlisle batsman Ben Davidson and the Southport and Birkdale all-rounder JJ Fielding whose father is a former Cumbria county player.
The opening day of the fixture on Sunday has been designated Cumbria’s Past Players Day when ex-Cumberland/Cumbria players can meet up for a reminisce and to enjoy some National Counties Championship cricket.
