Workington Town half-back Ciaran Walker has signed a new two-year deal with the League One club.
Walker picked up man of the match honours in Town’s 40-12 home win over Rochdale Hornets yesterday, scoring two tries and kicking six goals.
A product of the Seaton Rangers club, he joined the Newcastle Thunder Academy before linking up with Town before the start of last season.
He was a late call-up for the Ike Southward Memorial Trophy game in January when Carl Forber pulled-out through Covid, and he proceeded to earn the man of the match award.
During Town’s cash flow problems, he was among the players that left the club and he returned to his amateur roots with Seaton.
But Walker was among a clutch of Seaton players who signed for Town again under new coach Anthony Murray ahead of the current season.
Since then he has prospered and the 20-year-old is currently the leading points scorer in League One with 148 to his name – from 60 goals and seven tries. Only Martin Ridyard of Oldham has kicked more goals (61).
